Tuktuks are on their way!

We have finally received confirmation that all four tuktuks which the battle teams will be working with, are on the boat and have left the port in Chennai. They will now make the long journey, stopping in Singapore and then straight on to Rotterdam where they will be recieved by the Enviu team. Upon arrival, the tuktuks will undergo a baseline measurement to control fuel use and emissions before being delivered to the battle teams.
We would like to thank the team in India and Context, international cooperation in getting the tuktuks on board!

Mini kick-off:HAN’ds on Eco Tuktuk

On Thursday June 28th, the mini kick-off took place for the Hogeschool Arnhem and Nijmegen.
The purpose of this event was to familiarize the team with the details of the project and to inform them of the requirements and objectives for the coming year. After the presentation a press session was held in which the teams had the opportunity to proudly display thier team shirts and team spirit as they were photographed alongside the tuktuk. The afternoon ended with a celebratory drink as the team members enthusiastically shared ideas and possibilities for the project. Cheers!

Go/No go & Tuks

To keep track of the battle scores between the teams, we have implemented a scoring system on our website known as the Go/ No Go and the Tuk award.

For each phase your team will be receive a Go or No Go depending on the required tasks and activities they have completed. This will be depicted in the form of a stop light green for Go, Red for No Go and Orange for Almost There!
Throughout the year, bonus points will also be distributed among the teams in the form of Tuks. Based on specific criteria, the Tuk award will be given for the most inspiring and creative approach to accomplishing and communicating tasks and activities per phase.

Phase 2 of the Battle

After the success of the Kick-off event in the Netherlands, we would like to congratulate all of the battle teams that have made it through the first phase of the Hybrid Tuktuk Battle! Having officially presented themselves during the official kick-off, the Battle Teams in the Netherlands have now entered into phase 2. In this phase the teams will be preparing their plan of action for the coming year. This will include an analysis of existing technologies, initial ides and sketches for the upgrade kit and each teams plan to attract sponsors.

Don’t miss the boat!

One of the biggest learning experiences was the purchase and shipment of the tuktuk’s to the Netherlands.

Exporting second hand auto rickshaws for research and educational purposes has never been done before… until now. Context, international cooperation, the partner of Enviu in India has done it! It has taken some time, but we finally received the official confirmation that the Tuktuks are seaborne! They have left Chennai for their long voyage via Singapore and finally to Rotterdam.

Steady Forward: An Update from India

It is still hot here, the sun is shining, humidity is rising and the team keeps sweating to reach the objectives! We continue to move steadily forward.

Team India is working very hard to setup the battle teams in India for the hybrid Tuktuk battle. We are happy to say, it is looking good! Several top institutions have shown their interest to participate, and meetings are being planned with professors and students to get them involved and spread the hype! Everywhere we go to spread the word people are enthusiastic and want to be involved. Team India is planning to have the battle teams in India set by mid July.

Mini kick-off: HAN’ds on Eco Tuktuk

On Thursday, June 26th, the Mini Kick-off for HAN’s HTS Automotive took place!

The Symposium Elektrische, hybride en brandstofcelvoertuigen (SEV), 2008 at HAN’s High Tech Automotive Campus set the stage for a successful mini kick-off. Several different companies in the sustainable automotive and hybrid motors sector were present, among them: AllGreen Vehicles, Toyota Motor with the plug-in hybrid and Friend EV.

After the symposium a presentation was given to the HAN battle team about the project. Team members were given the opportunity to ask questions and become further acquainted with the details of the project for the coming year. Following the presentation a press session was held in which the battle team members displayed their team shirts alongside the Tuktuk.
