Good news! After a long journey of half a year, from India all the way to the Netherlands, the tuktuks have finally arrived in the late evening of Wednesday the 3rd! The very next day we went to visit the tuktuks at Waalhaven Rotterdam and were immediately offered a grand tour of the harbour itself. We even got the chance to board the ship and take a few pictures. (See video below.)
In the early morning of Monday the 8th the tuktuks will be picked up and transported to Arnhem where they will be subjected to baseline measurements before they can be forwarded to the teams.
Friday the 15th and Saturday the 16th the Ahoy (huge conference center in Rotterdam) was occupied by Formula 1 cars, army tanks, 4×4 from Paris Dakar and off course Enviu’s promo-tuktuk. The day was packed with donut-shows, races and visitors could try several racing simulators and reaction games.
The hybrid tuktuk stand and its crew were rather popular. Many visitors wanted to have their picture taken, together with the tuktuk. We drove around on the site and brought Tom Coronel, the famous Dutch racer and supporter of the Hybrid Tuktuk project, to his shows.
Sunday the Bavaria City Race took place. During this huge event (500.000 spectators) different cars and drivers displayed their tricks in front of the crowd, in down town Rotterdam. We managed to get our tuktuk plus 2 hot promo girls in a line of Ferraris, Porsches and Lambo’s. They took off pretty fast, which resulted in a solo show with loud Indian music and cheering spectators. It was a fun ride!
